<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel, in which airtightness of a fitting part is improved by preventing press-fit scratch and galling when a cap is press-fitted, and press-fit working efficiency is improved by presetting the cap before press-fitting. <P>SOLUTION: The cap 10 includes: a cylindrical fitting part 10a press-fitted to an outer member 2; a disk-shaped shield part 10b extending in a radially inward direction; and a bottom part 10d for covering the end section of an inner member 1 via a bending part 10c. The fitting part 10a includes: a cylindrical part 17 metal-fitted to the fitting face 2c of the outer member 2; and a diameter reduction part 18 extending in a shaft direction in an inclined manner. An elastic member 19 is joined to the outer peripheral face of the diameter reduction part, and a circular projection 19a projecting in radially outward directions from the outer diameter of the cylindrical part 17 is provided. A step in the radial direction is formed by press working in the end section of the cylindrical part 17, and its outer diameter d1 is set smaller than the inner diameter d0 of the fitting face 2c, and the width L1 of the step is set larger than the width L2 of a chamfered part 2c of the outer member 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
