Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for implementing immersive augmented reality using an RGB-D image. The apparatus for implementing immersive augmented reality using an RGB-D image comprises: an input portion which receives a color image and a depth image; a synthetic image generation portion which generates a synthetic image of the color image and the depth image; an object recognition portion which recognizes a space and an object in the synthetic image; an object information extraction portion which extracts three-dimensional object information of the recognized object; and an augmented image generation portion which generates and outputs an augmented image in which the object is disappeared or transformed by using the three-dimensional object information and the color image.
