PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous judgement of characteristic change in a steering device in which the characteristic change of an elastic member of a steering transmission system is judged during vehicle running even when being mounted on a vehicle of which gravity center height is varied.SOLUTION: A steering device comprises: a steering angle zero point detection unit 102; a zero point history holding unit 104; a characteristic change determination unit 116; a lateral acceleration sensor 42; and a detection/update inhibition unit 120. The steering angle zero point detection unit 102 detects a zero point of a steering angle of a steering wheel. The zero point history holding unit 104 records a detection history of the zero point. The characteristic change determination unit 116 determines characteristic change of a steering transmission system on the basis of the detection history. The lateral acceleration sensor 42 detects lateral acceleration applied to a vehicle body. The detection/update inhibition unit 120 inhibits the characteristic change determination unit 116 from determining for a prescribed period when the detected lateral acceleration is more than a determination threshold value. The detection/update inhibition unit 120 sets the determination threshold value according to the gravity center height estimated by a gravity center estimation unit 122. |
