A method for re-vegetating an essentially dry peat bog, or like area, whereby cut lengths of fibrous material 22, containing seed/cuttings of both bog 21 and dry heath 20 species, are broadcast over an essentially dry peat bog, so that the cut lengths interlink and intertwine to form a layer of thatch on the bog surface. Preferably the fibrous material and seed/cuttings are harvested by using a flail from growing species, cut into predetermined lengths and stored between harvesting and growing. The mixing of the fibrous material and seed/cuttings are mixed (the proportions of which may be varied) immediately before sowing or during sowing, which is achieved by broadcasting. A sowing vehicle will be provided with storage bins and will be a tracked vehicle. |
