摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication system that has improved noise tolerance by detecting and compensating a phase slip while mitigating increase in redundancy.SOLUTION: An optical communication system is composed of a transmitting unit 10, a transmission unit 20, and a receiving unit 30. The transmitting unit 10 encodes part of an information bit string included in a main signal to be transmitted on the basis of a reference signal coding rule to generate a reference signal. The receiving unit 30 decodes the part of the information bit string encoded by the transmitting unit 10 on the basis of the reference signal coding rule at the transmitting unit 10, and uses it as a reference signal, and compensates a change in communication quality due to a transmission characteristic for the main signal at the transmitting unit 10, transmission unit 20, and receiving unit 30 by use of the reference signal.
