PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of improving luminance characteristics by improving utilization efficiency of light source light.SOLUTION: A display device 10 has: a transmission type display part 15 having a lower polarization plate 16; and a surface light source device 20 for illuminating the transmission type display part from the lower polarization plate side. An optical anisotropic film 50 is provided on a further incident side than the lower polarization plate side, and the optical film is positioned in such a manner that, in an observation from a front direction, an orientation axis regarding an in-plane phase difference Re at the wavelength of 550 nm about the optical anisotropic film crosses a transmission axis Aa of the lower polarization plate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
