<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of detecting a user according to a use style of a user. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 has a normal mode and a power saving mode of which power consumption is smaller than the normal mode, as its operation modes. The image forming apparatus 1 includes: a shifting part 210 for shifting the image forming apparatus 1 from the normal mode to the power saving mode; a state monitoring part 220 for monitoring a predetermined monitoring area in the image forming apparatus 1 when the shifting part 210 shifts the image forming apparatus 1 from the normal mode to the power saving mode; a detection part 160 for detecting a human body positioned in a prescribed detection area; and an adjusting part 230 for adjusting the detection sensitivity of the detection part 160 provided in the vicinity of the monitoring area on the basis of a monitoring result by the state monitoring part 220. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
