In one embodiment, the mobile terminal sends an initial scheduling request to a base station. 1. A method for transmitting scheduling requests from a mobile terminal to a base station, the method comprising:
receiving a first scheduling grant from the base station; transmitting a buffer status report to the base station in response to the first scheduling grant; receiving a HARQ ACK from the base station for the first scheduling grant; receiving second data for transmission to the base station while first data is waiting to be transmitted to the base station; triggering transmission of a second scheduling request (SR) to the base station only if the mobile terminal lacks an uplink grant to transmit the second data and a buffer status of the mobile terminal has changed since a last acknowledged buffer status report from the mobile terminal to the base station; and cancelling the second scheduling request if a scheduling grant is received from the base station before the second scheduling grant has been transmitted. |
