The prevent invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating asthma or inflammatory diseases, comprising a Dendropanax morbifera extract or an active fraction thereof as an active ingredient. More specifically, a Dendropanax morbifera extract or a fraction thereof controls Th2-type immune responses in a mouse asthma model induced by ovalbumin, effectively inhibits the generation of cytokine secreted by the same, and significantly reduces inflammatory responses of lung tissues, the excessive generation of mucus within bronchial tubes, and hypersensitivity of airway, thereby being able to be helpfully used as effectively therapeutic agents in asthma and inflammatory diseases.
