SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRANSLATING SIGN LANGUAGE

The present invention relates to a system for translating sign language and a method thereof. The system comprises: a key input unit which receives a command of a user; a photographing unit which photographs a sign language action; an action recognition unit which converts image information of a sign language action, photographed by the photographing unit, into sign language information; a database which stores a sign language information value of the sign language action and text and voice information corresponding to the sign language information value; an action analysis unit which compares the sign language information, converted by the action recognition unit, with the sign language information value, stored in the database, so as to search for corresponding text and/or voice information; and an output unit which outputs the text and/or voice information, which is the search result, from the action analysis unit. Therefore, the system enables a person, who uses sign language, to communicate with other people who do not use sign language.
