FACE RECOGNITION METHOD THROUGH 3-DIMENSION FACE MODEL PROJECTION AND FACE RECOGNITION SYSTEM THEREOF

The present invention relates to a method and a system for recognizing a face by projecting a three-dimensional face model. More specifically, the system fore recognizing a face by projecting a three-dimensional face model includes: a three-dimensional face image database unit which stores a three-dimensional face image of a person to be recognized; an image input unit which receives a two-dimensional image including the image of the person; a pose information extraction unit which extracts pose information of the face included in the two-dimensional image; a two-dimensional face image generation unit which generates a two-dimensional face image by projecting the three-dimensional face image on a two-dimensional plane according to the pose information; and a face recognition unit which recognizes the face by comparing the face of the input two-dimensional image with the generated two-dimensional face image. According to the present invention, a face can be accurately recognized regardless of direction of a face of a person to be recognized in a photographed image.
