The present invention relates to a novel poly-oxa-aza OF the pendant arm type containing 2 [ 3,21-dioxa-6, 9, 12, 15,18-penta-aza-4, 10,17, 20-tetra-benzo-23- pyridine-cyclo-hexadecane] -1-aminobencyl-tris-2-(aminoethyl) imine, as well as the Ln complexes thereof, particularly Eu(III) and Tb (III), a process for obtaining the same through Schiff base-type condensation of the precursor 2, 6-bis(2- formyl- phenoxymethyl) pyridine and the aliphatic imine N,N,´N´´(2-aminobencyl)tris-(2-aminoethyl)imine (ABT). Films containing said compounds were prepared and characterized after deposition thereof over poly (methyl) methacrylate (PMMA). The ligand-binding capacity for Cu(II), Cr(III), Cd(II) and Zn(II) of the isolated compounds and films was assayed.
