The present invention relates to a folding-type safety footrest for preventing passengers′ legs from falling into a gap between the platform and the train, which can be unfolded after the train enters the platform, block the gap between the entrance door of the train and the platform, and allow the passengers to safely get on or off the train even passengers′ legs do not fall into a gap between the platform and the train. The footrest of the present invention can be easily installed not only on a new platform but also on existing platforms without having to make a block out of the platform, and can support the load of the passengers firmly and safely. The footrest of the present invention comprises: multiple load supporting plates (1); a gap finishing member (5) placed on the top of the external edge in the widthwise direction of the load supporting plates (1) to be able to rotate and to contact the train; a horizontal protecting plate (3) fixated and installed on the top of the load supporting plates (1); and a rotating cover plate (2) placed to change into the position at right angles to the horizontal position. When passengers are not getting on or off the train, the load supporting plates (1) are folded and the rotating cover plate (2) is vertical, and when the passengers are getting on or off the train, the load supporting plates (1) rotate to be unfolded. The load supporting plates (1) rotate to push the rotating cover plate (2) making the rotating cover plate (2) horizontal to block the gap, preventing passengers′ legs from falling into the gap and causing them to fall down. |
