The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for protecting a passenger of a vehicle, which is configured to control safety devices to operate normally when ignition is turned off during driving the vehicle. According to the present invention, the apparatus for protecting a passenger of a vehicle detects a speed of the vehicle to check whether the speed exceeds a threshold value when power which is supplied to the safety devices is cut-off due to the switch-off of ignition and when the speed exceeds the threshold value, then operates an emergency power control logic to supply power to the safety devices.
