PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for purifying hydrogen gas by means of which hydrogen gas can be purified with a high recovery rate by removing impurities from hydrogen gas that is extracted using organic chemical hydride method or the like.SOLUTION: The method for purifying hydrogen gas is provided in which two adsorption towers 10A, 10B filled with an adsorbent are used to purify raw hydrogen gas containing impurities. The method comprises an adsorption cycle including at least: an adsorption step in which the impurities are separated from the raw hydrogen gas by adsorbing the impurities to the adsorbent in the adsorption towers 10A, 10B; and a thermal regeneration step in which the impurities are desorbed from the adsorbent by providing heated purge gas to the adsorption towers after the adsorption step. The cycle is carried out repeatedly in each of the adsorption towers 10A, 10B. While the adsorption step is carried out in one adsorption tower, a step other than the adsorption step is carried out in the other adsorption tower.
