In a shifting device of the present invention, when a switch is operated, a moving part, a first locking plate, a second locking plate, and a third locking plate are moved towards the front of a vehicle, and the positions of the first locking plate, the second locking plate, and the third locking plate are unlocked in a return path. Thus, if the switch is operated while the lever is at a position other than a position "P," then a biasing force from a return spring causes a guide pin to move to above the return path, resulting in the guide pin being returned to the front end of the vehicle on a first horizontal path, causing the lever to return to the position "P". Consequently, the lever can be returned with ease from a position other than the position "P" to the position "P". |
