The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an optical film, an optical member and an optical film manufactured by using the same, a polarizing plate including the same, and a liquid crystal display device. The method includes: a step of forming a birefringence layer by applying a birefringence material to a releasing film; a step of forming a laminator by printing the birefringence layer on a thermal contraction film; and a step of thermally contracting the laminator to make the birefringence layer satisfy the formula (1) below. The formula (1): n_x > n_z > n_y. In the formula (1), n_x is a refractive index in a direction in which a surface direction refractive index of the birefringence layer becomes the maximum, n_y is a refractive index in a vertical direction to the n_x direction of the birefringence layer, and n_z is a refractive index in a thickness direction of the birefringence layer.
