A light fitting (10) comprises an outer housing (11) and an inner support (12) which is supported by the outer housing, said inner support comprising a rear face (30) and a front face (31) to which a solid-state lighting device (13) is secured in good thermal contact therewith, the rear face of the inner support being devoid of an attached heat sink and the inner support serving, in use, as the primary heat sink for dissipation of heat generated by the solid-state lighting device. The light fitting may comprise a fire resistan intumescent material to form a fire resistant barrier. |
