[Problem] To provide an ink jet recording method which exhibits excellent ink discharge properties and drying properties, high fixing properties and high color development properties and which exhibits an offset printing-like feel. [Solution] An ink jet recording method in which a water-based pigment ink is printed on an ink jet recording medium having an ink-receiving layer, which contains an inorganic pigment, starch and a copolymer latex, on a base material, wherein the inorganic pigment is contained in the ink-receiving layer at a quantity of 10-35 g/m2 in terms of solid content, the content of calcium carbonate in the inorganic pigment is 80-100 mass %, the content of silica is 0-10 mass %, and an ink jet ink contains one or more types of pigments selected from among water-insoluble polymer particles which contain self-dispersing pigments and pigments, 10-48 mass % of a water-soluble organic solvent A having a boiling point of 230ºC or lower, 0-5.0 mass % of a water-soluble organic solvent B having a boiling point of 280ºC or higher, and 42-70 mass % of water. |
