PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cytotoxic compounds capable of covalently binding to a cell-binding agent, and pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds.SOLUTION: The invention relates to benzodiazepine derivatives represented by the formula in the figure, cytotoxic compounds capable of covalently binding to a cell-binding agent, and pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds. The cell-binding agent is preferably a monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to a target cell.
