A plurality of machine-to-machine, M2M, service provider, SP, networks are interconnected by common protocols for communication. An underlying network (110) provides data transport services for an M2M SP network. In a M2M SP network (170), an infrastructure node (130) receives a request for instance-specific information. The instance-specific information is associated with a particular instance of an application (160) on a particular M2M device (150). The request includes access information for reaching that particular instance from the perspective of the underlying network and further includes application identifying information that identifies the application (160). Based on the access information, the infrastructure node 130 retrieves from the underlying network (110) a common identifier that identifies the particular M2M device to both the M2M SP network (170) and the underlying network (110). The infrastructure node (130) identifies the requested instance-specific information based on the common identifier and the application identifying information. |
