PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems, apparatuses and methods for performing a gather and scatter stride instruction in a computer.SOLUTION: When gather/scatter instructions are used since data elements desired to operate simultaneously are not contiguous in memory in SIMD (single instruction multiple data) hardware, the execution of a gather stride instruction causes a conditional storage of strided data elements from memory in a destination register according to at least some of bit values of a writemask, providing a desired efficiency.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
