Provided is a method for cleaning magnetic carrier particles that allows accurate immunoassay to be achieved. An analyte, a reagent that includes magnetic carrier particles, and a reagent that includes a first antibody are added to a cell (10); a first immunocomplex comprising the first antibody and a component being measured is produced on the magnetic carrier particles; and a reaction solution that includes the magnetic carrier particles on which the first immunocomplex is supported is obtained. A cleaning solution is then added to the reaction solution and suspended therein. Next, magnets (104A) equal in height to the level of the liquid surface are brought into proximity with side surfaces of the cell (10), and the magnetic carrier particles on which the first immunocomplex is supported are magnetically separated to the inside surface of the cell (10). Because the magnets (104A) brought into proximity with side surfaces of the cell (10) are equal in height to the level of the liquid surface, the magnetic force of the magnets (104A) acts along the entire height direction of the solution in the cell, and the magnetic carrier particles on which the first immunocomplex is supported can be magnetically separated efficiently and reliably. In so doing, accurate measurement is possible in an immunoassay. |
