1. A pressure vessel, comprising:
a pipe having a proximal end, a distal end, an outer surface comprising a two-axis wound filamentous composite, a bore having a wall that defines an insider diameter, and a length that, together with the insider diameter, defines a volume; a plug in the bore at each end of the pipe, proximal and distal, each plug comprising a cylindrical section at its proximal end, which cylindrical section is innermost in the bore and is contiguous with the wall of the bore and an inwardly tapered section that is contiguous with a similarly tapered section of the wall of the bore, the tapered section of the plug terminating in a surface located at or near the end of the pipe; wherein:
the cylindrical section of the plug includes a circumferential groove in which is disposed a seal; a compression cap at each end of the pipe, proximal and distal, each compression cap comprising a cylindrical section at its proximal end that is disposed over and contiguous with the outer surface of the pipe and a tapered inner surface section, which tapered inner surface is contiguous with the outer surface of the tapered section of the wall of the bore; wherein
one of the plugs comprises a threaded port for fluid ingress and egress. |
