Counterbalance valves with two adjustable springs (45, 50). The outer spring (45) biasing force is adjusted by pilot pressure provided through pilot port (3) and acting on pilot sleeve (65). The counterbalance valves provide hold, capture, and motion control benefits of prior art CB valves while improving upon one or more performance characteristics of current CB valves. The novel counterbalance valves are useful for providing good system stability across a range of load pressures and/or reducing power consumption, improving energy efficiency, as compared with prior art devices. |
