PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water-soluble compositions comprising curcumin with enhanced biological availability as well as production methods thereof.SOLUTION: Provided is a water-soluble composition comprising a synergetic combination of curcumin [1,7-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione] derived from turmeric, at least one antioxidant, a hydrophilic carrier and a fat, having bioavailability useful for treating depression. A water-soluble composition of curcumin comprises 1-90% by weight of curcumin, 0.1-10% by weight of antioxidant, 1-85% by weight of hydrophilic carrier and 0.1-25% by weight of fat. Also provided is a method for producing the curcumin composition comprising the steps of: dissolving curcumin, at least one antioxidant, a hydrophilic carrier and a fat in a solvent to obtain a homogenous mass; warming the mass at a temperature in a range of 25-60°C for 4-8 hours to obtain a dry-wet mass; removing the solvent by evaporation to form a dry mass; and pulverizing the dry mass to form a fine powder.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
