The purpose of the present invention is to provide a lithium secondary battery adding an additive for curbing safety issues, such as overcharging or the like, in an initial stage of an occurrence of the safety issues to perform a necessary function of the additive in a necessary time to reduce negative effects on battery performance when the additive is normally operated. According to the present invention, the lithium secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly; the additive to be added to an electrolyte; a main chamber accommodating the electrode assembly and the electrolyte; an additive chamber accommodating the additive; and a coupling unit configured to couple the main chamber to the additive chamber. The coupling unit is transformed by heat, when the temperature thereof is greater than or equal to a pre-determined temperature, to be able to move the additive from the additive chamber to the main chamber. |
