PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film excellent in suppressing light leakage in a black display mode.SOLUTION: An optical film 100 includes a first retardation layer 1 and a second retardation layer 2. The second retardation layer 2 has an optical property represented by formula (3) nx≒ny<nz; the second retardation layer 2 has a thickness from 0.2 μm to 2.0 μm; and the optical film 100 has optical properties represented by formula (1) Re(450)/Re(550)≤1.00 and (2) 1.00≤Re(650)/Re(550). In the formulae, Re(450), Re(550) and Re(650) represent values of in-plane retardation at the respective wavelengths; nx ny represent in-plane refractive indices in the film plane and nz represents a refractive index in a direction perpendicular to the film plane in an index ellipsoid formed by the retardation layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
