PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical instrument and an imaging apparatus, which can be easily and evenly operated by the right hand or left hand of a user without impairing designability.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a release ring 107 arranged around a lens unit 104. A vertical release operation part 107V can be slid in first directions (an R direction and an S direction) orthogonal to the optical axis of the lens unit 104 and a lateral release operation part 107H can be slid in second directions (a U direction and a T direction) orthogonal to the optical axis of the lens unit 104. A first detection part includes a two-step switch for detecting the movement in the first directions of the vertical release operation part 107V. A second detection part includes a two-step switch for detecting the movement in the second directions of the lateral release operation part 107H. When each switch detects the movement of a corresponding operation part in a first stage, a focus adjustment operation is performed and the state of the lens unit 104 is maintained. After that, when each switch detects the movement of the corresponding operation part in a second stage, the control of a photographing operation is performed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
