PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve at least one of such target values as ribboning prevention quality, productivity and energy consumption.SOLUTION: A method of avoiding ribboning during winding of a cross winding package, in which a cross winding package 8 is driven by a driving drum 2 provided with traverse grooves 2'' for thread guide and the driving drum 2 has an acceleration phase BP and a brake phase AP immediately following each acceleration phase. The driving drum 2 has a higher peripheral speed than the cross winding package 8 during the acceleration phase BP and the brake phase AP, terminates the brake phase AP at the time when the peripheral speed of the driving drum 2 falls to the peripheral speed of the cross winding package 8, and has a synchronous phase GP following to each brake phase AP, in which the peripheral speed of the driving drum 2 is equal to the peripheral speed of the cross winding package 8.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
