PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which does not wastefully cut off and discharge a sheet even if the sheet has a joint.SOLUTION: A printer conveys a continuous sheet 2a, performs printing on the sheet 2a by printing means 3, cuts the sheet 2a into every sheet by cutting means 4 and issues the sheets. The printer includes: sheet length specifying means for specifying a sheet length of every sheet issued after the sheet 2a is printed by the printing means 3; detection means 5 for detecting a joint 6 of the sheet 2a; determination means for determining whether or not the joint 6 is included in the remaining sheet length of the specified sheet length when the joint 6 is detected by the detection means 5 during a printing operation on the sheet 2a by the printing means 3; and control means for controlling to continue the printing operation and issue the remaining sheet length in the specified sheet length when determining that the joint 6 is not included in the remaining sheet length by the determination means and controlling to stop the printing operation and discharge the sheet corresponding to the specified sheet length when determining that the joint 6 is included in the remaining sheet length.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
