HOST PROFILES IN A STORAGE AREA NETWORK (SAN) ARCHITECTURE

Reference profiles for managing configurations of host machines in a cluster may include a subprofile that specifies a boot LUN in a SAN storage architecture. Processing of a reference profile includes properly resolving the boot LUN specified in the reference profile and the actual boot LUN used in a target host machine.

1. A method comprising:
receiving, by a first computer, configuration data to assess configurations in the first computer; in response to the first computer having a target boot disk, producing, by the first computer, a boot disk map that associates a reference boot disk specified in the configuration data with the target boot disk; assessing, by the first computer, one or more settings of one or more components comprising the first computer using the configuration data, including selectively mapping the reference boot disk to the target boot disk using the boot disk map; and selectively generating, by the first computer, one or more error messages depending on results from the assessing.
