Provided are an impact test device and a method, whereby the impact resistance of an upper cover rubber of a conveyor belt during actual use can be accurately predicted. A contact member 4 is repeatedly caused to collide with the surface of a rubber sample R, as a result of: setting the rotation speed of a rotating drum 7 having the rubber sample R attached to the outer peripheral surface thereof, to a desired speed; setting, to a desired cycle, an impact cycle for the contact member 4 to impact on the surface of the rubber sample R as a result of a repeat-impact mechanism; setting the impact load from the contact member 4 to a desired impact load, by using a weight member 5; selecting, as the provided contact member 4, a desired contact member 4 from among a plurality of types of contact members 4a, 4b, 4c having different specifications for a contact surface that comes in contact with the surface of the rubber sample R; attaching the contact member 4 to one end in the longitudinal direction of an arm section 3 constituting the repeat impact mechanism; rotating a vertical excitation roller 8; and rotating the arm section 3 in the vertical direction, having a rotation shaft 3b as the rotation center thereof. |
