Systems and methods for visualizing ablated tissue are disclosed. In some embodiments, a system for imaging tissue comprising: a catheter (1601) having a distal end and a proximal end; an inflatable balloon (1603) disposed about the distal end of the catheter (1601); and an optical housing (1803) extending from the distal end of the catheter (1601) into the balloon (1603), the optical housing (1803) being configured to position inside the balloon (1603) a light source (1805) for illuminating a tissue outside the balloon (1603) and a camera (1804) for imaging the illuminated tissue.
