PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breaking bar capable of clearly breaking a substrate having a protruded part on a surface.SOLUTION: By pressing a substrate W including a protruded part 1 formed on one side surface and a scribe line S formed on the other side surface from a surface of a side opposite to the surface where the scribe line S is formed, a breaking bar for a brittle material substrate bends and breaks the substrate W along the scribe line S. The breaking bar for the brittle material substrate includes a recessed part 9b into which the protruded part 1 is fitted is formed on a part corresponding to the protruded part 1 of the substrate W to be broken at a linear ridge part 9a of a top end of the breaking bar, and breaks the substrate W so that an even pressing load is applied to the whole region of a surface to be pressed of the substrate W when pressing the substrate W.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
