Disclosed are a method and system of automatically modifying a protection group identifier, the method comprising: determining a network element to be operated and at least one protection group to be operated in the network element; according to a value range of a new protection group ID provided by a user, calculating and allocating a new protection group ID of the protection group to be operated; modifying protection group configuration data associated with the new protection group ID according to the new protection group ID; adding the new protection group ID and the protection group configuration data associated therewith to a library, and then resetting another board in a network element associated with the network element to be operated. The present invention can automatically calculate an appropriate new protection group ID according to the value range of the new protection group ID provided by the user, reducing the workload for modifying protection group IDs and improving engineering maintenance efficiency, and can automatically modify the configuration data associated with the protection group ID, ensuring consistency between the protection group and the associated configuration data. |
