The belt has a top layer provided as a belt backing and a bottom section with a power transmission zone, where the zone and/or the layer is covered with a textile material e.g. fabric, knit fabric or knotted fabric. The textile material consists of a warp and a weft yarn (30). The weft yarn contains an elastic thread as a core yarn (22) and a wrapped yarn (23) e.g. aramide yarn, and another wrapped yarn (24) e.g. polyamide yarn, where one of the wrapped yarns is directly wound on the core yarn. The other wrapped yarn is wound on the former wrapped yarn in opposite direction.
