[Also in Group XXXVII] Pneumatic gauging and controlling apparatus comprises an air flow passage 20 which is connected in series to a source of compressed air, a rate of flow type indicator 24, 25 and a gauge head 12 of the air leakage type, a pressure responsive switch-actuating unit 30 (see Group XXXVII) being in communication with the passage 20 between a restriction 22 and the gauge head 12 and the restriction 22 being constructed to produce pressure variations during gauging which will operate the control unit 30 but which will not interfere with the response of the indicator 25. A series of switch units 30 may be used to obtain signals at different dimensions of the workpiece 17 and the signals may be applied for machine control or for sorting.
