Disclosed are an interior material for a vehicle and a method for manufacturing the interior material thereof. The interior material for a vehicle according to the present invention includes: a lower panel; an upper panel which is combined to be stacked on the lower panel, and has an insertion layer inserted between the upper panel and the lower panel, and is formed with a light transmitting material; and an EL sheet which is accommodated in the insertion layer. A light emitted from the EL sheet penetrates the upper panel. By the present invention, in manufacturing the interior material for the vehicle, the method for manufacturing the interior material can manufacture the interior material for surface light emitting easily by the flexible EL sheet, and can manufacture the thin type interior material, and can avoid unnecessary thickness increase and cost increase, by inserting the EL sheet between the lower panel and the upper panel and then making the front surface of the upper panel emit the light by the EL sheet.
