Class 108(3) A tool for inserting a ring 8 of relatively hard material, e.g. metal, into a tube 9 of rubber or a plastic, such as polyethylene or nylon, in a position in which the axis of the ring is inclined, Fig. 5, or at right angles, Fig. 9, to the axis of the tube and swinging the ring within the tube into a position in which it is coaxial with the tube, comprises a handle 1 and a head 2 which has a spigot 3 adapted to receive the ring and a notch 7 provided with a guide wall 11 adapted to engage the end 10 of the tube to act as a stop as the ring on the spigot is inserted into the tube and about which the tool is swung to swing the ring into its position in which it is coaxial with the tube, Fig. 6. As shown, a shoulder 4 between the spigot 3 and the head 2 provides an abutment for the ring 8, and a stud 5 projects from the lower edge of the spigot to hold the ring in position while the ring is placed within the ubte. The notch 7, formed within a recessed portion 6 of the head, consists of an inclined surface 11a to contact the inner surface of the tube, and a curved, guide wall 11 which abuts the end of the tube to determine the final position of the ring. |
