PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a liquid discharge head which prevents liquid from infiltrating into a gap between head modules, improves chemical durability of a water repellent film on a side surface neighboring a nozzle-side surface and, when exchanging a head module, causes no trouble occurring on the water repellent film on the side surface of the head module; an image forming apparatus; and a manufacturing method of the liquid discharge head.SOLUTION: A side surface 202 of a head module 72-i, which opposes a neighboring head module with a gap 160 interposed therebetween, includes a water repellent film 204. The water repellent film 204 on the side surface 202 is formed in such a manner as to be thick at the side of a nozzle surface 72A and become thinner stepwise or continuously as it moves away from the side of the nozzle surface 72A. |
