The cells in the layers may expand or contract to increase energy absorption of the movement. The system may include a tensile layer which may comprise fabric which may be integral to the material of the one or more cells in at least one of the layers. A system comprising a body, the body, made from a strain rate sensitive material comprises an outer cell 351 and an inner cell 352 retained within the outer cell by a web. The cells comprise overhangs at their openings and the overhang of the outer cell is different to that of the inner cell, at least one of the cells comprises a re-entrant geometry Also included is a method of producing the system.
