<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoacoustic engine capable of generating a traveling wave in a wide area of a resonance pipe without installing a movable part. <P>SOLUTION: The thermoacoustic engine 1 includes a resonance pipe 11 and a prime mover 20 arranged in a conduit line of the resonance pipe 11 and composed of a heat accumulator 21 for heating and cooling a working gas, a heater 22 for heating a one-end part (high temperature part 21b) of the heat accumulator 21, and a cooler 23 for discharging heat of the other end part (normal temperature part 21a) of the heat accumulator 21 to generate self-excited vibrations of the working gas by forming a temperature gradient between both end parts of the heat accumulator 21. The resonance pipe 11 includes a reference pipe part 14 and a deformed pipe part 15. The deformed pipe part 15 is arranged to the other end of the resonance pipe 11 from a predetermined portion of the resonance pipe 11 on which an imaginary part of acoustic impedance becomes zero, and when a density of the working gas is ρ and a sound speed is c, an inner diameter of the deformed pipe part 15 is set so that the value of the acoustic impedance becomes ρc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
