<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near infrared light absorbing agent which has low absorbance in a visible light region while having the maximum absorbance in a wavelength region of near infrared light and to provide a near infrared light-absorptive synthetic resin composition containing the near infrared light absorbing agent. <P>SOLUTION: A compound being a metal complex having a specific indigo skeleton is used as the near infrared light absorbing agent.
