A sealing device in which screw ridges (24) are formed on the conical surface (23) of a seal lip (2), the screw ridges (24) being positioned on the side opposite a sealed space, wherein dust infiltrating from the exterior is prevented from entering the sliding part of a lip edge (21). In order to achieve the purpose, this invention is provided with the seal lip (2) extending towards the sealed space (A). A lip edge (21) in close slidable contact with the outer circumferential surface (200a) of a rotating body (200) is formed on the inner circumferential surface of the seal lip (2), as is the conical surface (23) positioned on the side opposite the sealed space, the conical surface (23) expanding in diameter from the lip edge (21) towards the side opposite the sealed space. The plurality of screw ridges (24) for generating a screw pump action towards the lip edge (21) by the rotation of the rotating body (200) in a given direction (R) are formed on the conical surface (23) positioned on the side opposite the sealed space, and the requisite number of dust capturing parts (243) are formed on the skirt section of the screw ridges (24). |
