Veterinary compositions suitable for oral administration to domestic livestock comprise not less than 0.1 per cent by weight of cyanacethydrazide and a pulverulent non-toxic diluent and may be prepared by mixing together and/or grinding together the ingredients of said composition. The diluent may be soluble or insoluble in aqueous media, e.g. water or milk, or may be inorganic or organic, e.g. talc, kaolin, chalk, sodium chloride or urea. The composition may also contain other nontoxic adjuvants such as wetting or dispersing agents, e.g. a phenol-ethylene oxide condensation product such as the condensation product of cresol with 8 to 10 molecular proportions of ethylene oxide, anticaking agents, e.g. calcium, phosphate, granulating agents, e.g. tragacanth, potato or maize starch, and lubricating agents, e.g. magnesium stearate. The invention also includes an animal foodstuff composition comprising suitable material which may be used as a livestock foodstuff, e.g. crushed oats, barley meal, fish meal, linseed meal, ground nut meal, mixed meals or silage, together with cyanacethydrazide which may be present in amount not less than 0.01 per cent by weight, and a pulverulent non-toxic diluent. |
