[Also in Group XXIII] A workpiece W to be ground by a wheel 12 is clamped by headed-pins 10 to a face-plate 44. The pins 10 are actuated to clamping-position by a spring 60 acting through a draw-spindle 56 connected by a universally-jointed shaft 53 to a yoke 51. The face-plate 44 rests on an annulus 42, rotated by a belt-pulley 41, and during this rotation the face-plate and work are moved laterally to generate a non-circular shape on the work, by fixed followers 48, 23 engaging cam-surfaces 45, 46 on the periphery of the face-plate.
