In the present invention, there is disclosed magnetically separable reactive sorbent consisting of a core containing ferromagnetic iron oxide (magnetite and/or maghemite) and a surface layer containing an active form of cerium dioxide with specific surface area in the range of 10 to 150 me2/g and size of primary crystallites 50 nm at the most. There is also disclosed a process for preparing the magnetically separable reactive sorbent, the process comprising preparation of aqueous suspension of active form of ferromagnetic iron oxide in concentration in the range of 0.01 to 100 g/l. Subsequently gaseous carbon dioxide or a solution containing anions of carbonates, hydrogen carbonates, formiates, oxalates or citrates in concentration in the range of 0.01 to 5 mole/l is added thereto. Then, a solution of cerium(III) or cerium(IV) salt in concentration in the range of 0.01 to 5 mol/l in at the most stoichiometric amount of the added anions is added. Then, the solid phase is separated, dried and calcined. The magnetically separable reactive sorbent of the present invention can be used for decomposition of organophosphorous compounds. |
