An active transmitter (10) is arranged inside a car seat (110) to generate a magnetic or an electromagnetic field. A sensor (30) is arranged on the rib cage to provide a signal depending on the electromagnetic field and the change in distance caused by the respiration of living being, between active transmitter and sensor. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) method of sensing respiration of living being; and (2) measuring system for sensing respiration of person situated within motor vehicle.
