An electric tool (1) is provided with a sensor unit (S) for detecting the rotational position of a brushless motor (3), a drive circuit (15) for supplying power to the brushless motor (3), and a control unit (14) for controlling the drive circuit (15). When it was determined that the current positional information based on the position signal of the sensor (S) is abnormal, the control unit (14) carries out an abnormality stop for stopping the drive power to the motor (3) (S30). When the brushless motor (3) is selected to be driven after the abnormality stop was carried out (S31), the control unit (14) reactivates the brushless motor (3) by controlling the switching elements (16 to 21) of the drive circuit (15) at a duty cycle that is lower than the duty cycle before stopping the drive power. |
